The Kia Optima proves that everyone has their own idea of fun, and you can pick your dream sedan from four different available trim levels. The lineup starts off with the well-equipped LX base model and goes up from there with the stylish S, the powerful EX, and the luxurious SX.
Really, both the EX and the SX are luxurious. They both have leather, they both have turbo engines, and they both have smart cruise control, but the SX pushes it even further. For starters, that leather is available in gray and black on the EX, but comes in red, black, bronze, and aubergine on the SX. What’s more, some of those leathers are genuine Nappa leather.
The SX has a more powerful engine too with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that pushes out 245 horsepower and still gets 21-city mpg and 30-highway mpg. The EX is a little more economical with its 1.6-liter turbo 178-horsepower engine that provides 27-city mpg and 37-highway mpg. If you opt for the LX or the S, then you still get a 2.4-liter engine that actually produces more power than the EX at 185 horsepower, but falls a little behind in efficiency with up to 25-city mpg and 35-highway mpg.
In all, the Kia Optima has a ton of features that we haven’t even had a chance to talk about yet. For starters, the LX gives you power adjustable heated side mirrors, an 8-inch touchscreen, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The S gives you even more with features like satellite radio, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The EX is still even better with features like forward collision warning, heated front seats, and an electronic parking brake. Finally, the SX delivers more than the rest with navigation, a 630-Watt sound system, and ventilated front seats.
